As a new mom, you’ve probably made—or are even still making—some serious sacrifices.
Is it all worth it? Yes!
But could you use a bit of “me time” and “me money”? Yes.
And you deserve to.
One of those sacrifices, if we have to call them that, can be the curves and contours of your body.
Going through pregnancy and bearing and birthing a child can change those curves.
That’s why a complete mommy makeover includes whatever a new mom thinks would help her improve her body after bearing children.
Usually, the procedures chosen are meant to bring it up to or even above the point of her pre-pregnancy body in terms of stomach size and firmness, breast size and position, and vaginal tightness.
A mommy makeover most often focuses on the breasts and abs, but can include liposuction in the legs and upper arms, a buttock lift or BBL, and a labiaplasty.
While the exact makeup of procedures depends on the new mother’s desires and goals, if breast implants and a Brazilian butt lift are offered as helpful, patient’s should be sure they are aware of the risks involved in these procedures above all others.
Thus a “complete mommy makeover” may include any or all of the following procedures:
- Tummy tuck is probably the most common mommy makeover procedure, during which any diastasis recti can be corrected, and the skin and tissue of the abdomen can be tightened and toned.
- Liposuction of the abdomen is usually also done.
- Breast lift surgery as part of a mommy makeover is very common.
- Labiaplasty is often done as part of a mommy makeover, but much less often than the breast and body work listed above.
- Breast augmentation is less common, but is an option.
- Buttock lift is likewise less common.
- Brazilian butt lift is very uncommon as part of a mommy makeover, but can be done if desired.
One of the beauties of a Mommy Makeover is that you can pick and chose what procedures are done as part of it. There are no limitations on what procedures can be done, although there are limits to how many of those procedures you can have during any one visit to your plastic surgeon.
For instance, if you opted to get a tummy tuck or breast lift or augmentation, you may be able to do both in one surgical session, whereas if you wanted more than about 2-3 procedures, you’d likely have to go through two recovery periods.
The “best mommy makeover” is usually a balance of:
- What you as the patient and new mother actually want. Above are the procedures most commonly included or at least considered as part of a complete mommy makeover. But it’s your call which of them you want, or whether to have any of them at all. Afterall, not everyone gets a mommy makeover, and exercise is usually an option for many new mothers.
- Which of those procedures can be done at the same time. Often, all of them can be, but if you wanted, for instance, a tummy tuck, labiaplasty, a Brazilian butt lift, and a breast augmentation surgery, you would be required to undergo surgery at two different times for safety reasons. In one surgery, you might have the breast lift/augmentation, and the labiaplasty, while in another, later, you might have the Brazilian butt lift.
Things like loose skin, scars, bulges, and sagging show that you worked hard to have the family you wanted. It’s normal, though, to find it hard to feel good about your body after giving birth. Many moms feel like they can’t get back to the way they looked before they had kids.
When it comes to losing baby weight and getting more active, diet and exercise can only do so much. A complete mommy makeover is a great way to get your body back to how it was before you had a baby.

What is a complete mommy makeover?
A complete mommy makeover is a combination of different types of plastic surgery procedures that can be tailored to your needs. Most mommy makeovers focus on the breasts and stomach, which change the most during pregnancy and after giving birth. But every woman’s pregnancy is different, so it’s normal to choose procedures and treatments that help with the things that worry you the most.
For a mommy makeover, the most common combination of procedures that plastic surgeons recommend is a breast lift, breast augmentation, and tummy tuck. Together, these procedures can fix things like sagging and loss of volume in the breasts and loose skin and muscles in the stomach.
But there are also common options like liposuction or labiaplasty as well as BBL that can be done at the same time. Botox and other non-surgical procedures can also be done during surgery or on a separate day to refresh the face and body in a subtle way.
Ways to make a mommy makeover better
The best thing about the mommy makeover is that you can change it to fit your own goals and areas of concern. Body contouring and breast surgeries are just two of the most common kinds of mommy makeovers while the complete mommy makeover usually entails a few more procedures to make a complete restorative look.
The following are some of the procedures that you can combine to make a complete mommy makeover:
Breast Lift and/or Breast Augmentation
Moms often feel like their breasts aren’t what they used to be after giving birth and breastfeeding. Even though many moms can benefit from breast augmentation surgery or breast lift surgery on their own, the most common method and the one that can make the biggest difference is a combination of the two.
This has the benefits of giving the breasts more volume through implants, getting rid of loose, sagging skin, and lifting the breasts to a higher, more youthful position.
Tummy tuck surgery
Abdominoplasty, which is another name for a tummy tuck, is especially helpful for mothers. In addition to getting rid of loose skin and stubborn fat in the abdomen, a tummy tuck can also tighten the abdominal muscles, which often get loose after pregnancy.
This condition is called rectus diastasis, and it happens when the muscles in the stomach start to separate. This makes the stomach weak and loose.
A combination of a tummy tuck procedure within the mommy makeover process can fix those muscles and restore a toned and flatter stomach or abdomen.
Liposuction
Liposuction is one of the best ways to get rid of pockets of fat in the lower body that don’t go away easily. Many moms choose liposuction to get rid of fat in places like the hips or thighs where diet and exercise don’t seem to help. If you decide to get liposuction, you can talk to your surgeon about fat transfer procedures to add fat to places like your buttocks or breasts. This can help you look better and bring back some of the volume you lost.
Good candidates for a complete mommy makeover
If you are in good physical shape and a healthy weight, you are a good candidate for this procedure. That said, before you get a mommy makeover, you should wait until your family is complete. You should also give your body about 6 months to heal after giving birth and about 4 months after you stop breastfeeding so that your breasts return to their final shape and size.
A complete mommy makeover has risen to be one of the most popular procedures for mothers looking to restore their pre-baby body. It can provide you with exceptional results from head-to-toe that you can show off and enjoy for years to come.
