That natural migration has given rise to such plastic surgery sweet spots as Beverly Hills, CA, the beauty capital of America, Miami, FL, as the BBL capital, and New York City, NY as a destination for high-end (and high priced) facial plastic surgery.
These are the Top 10 states with the highest concentration of the best plastic surgeons in America.
This list is based on an extensive survey conducted by Newsweek magazine in 2022.
Plastic surgeons and other medical industry peers were asked to provide open-ended recommendations of the “best plastic surgeons.”

Next up is New York, where nose job surgery is more popular than breast augmentation, and where the highest prices are paid out for plastic surgery. Plastic surgery in New York isn’t much more expensive than it is in other states, but New York has earned its reputation as having some of the highest priced plastic surgeons, some of whom charge $200,000 for facial plastic surgery. New York state is home to 48 of America’s best plastic surgeons, making it the state with the second-highest number of the best plastic surgeons in the U.S.

- Sometimes considered the “plastic surgery capital of America.”
- The unregulated parts of the industry here often make news headlines.
- Miami was once calculated to have 3.9 plastic surgeons for every 100,000 residents.
When Florida is in the news for its plastic surgery empire, it’s usually because a patient has met their demise after undergoing Brazilian butt lift (BBL) surgery, or liposuction.
In either procedure, organs can be punctured, and in the BBL, fat can be injected incorrectly and cause almost instant death. That prompted the state to set a rule limiting its surgeons to doing no more than 3 BBLs per day. Within a week of the order’s issue, a safety group was already appealing what some say were perfectly sensible guidelines.
If you can weave your way through the labyrinth of Miami chop shops whose doctors “don’t care at all” about patient safety, Florida isn’t a bad pick for a great place to go for breast augmentation surgery, liposuction, or even the BBL.
Just be sure your surgeon is board-certified, that you never pick him or her based on price alone, and always research their case history.
