These days, it seems there’s a plastic surgery procedure for every part of the body.
And, there basically is.
In fact, for some body parts, there are multiple plastic surgery procedures available.
If men and women can be convinced that they’ll look and feel better… if they were to just trim this down here… increase the size of this over here… add to this… and take away from this….then a plastic surgery procedure already exists to do so—or will shortly.
Today, you need a hip dip to look just right, tomorrow you need a slimmer waist, and a thicker backside.
Whether surgeons or society is to blame for the never-ending new procedures that will nip, tuck, reduce, enlarge, and exaggerate certain physical features is unknown.
The inventiveness of one apparently plays off the insecurities of the other, which both eventually pushing the envelope.
All things considered, how many plastic surgery procedures are there really?
There are at least 35 unique plastic surgery procedures in all.
And they are— Alphabetical List of Plastic Surgery Procedures:
Table of Contents
1. Brazilian Butt Lift
The BBL, or Brazilian butt lift, is a surgical procedure that involves removing healthy fat from areas of the body using liposuction, and then injecting that fat into the buttocks.
2. Breast Augmentation (Augmentation Mammaplasty)
Breast augmentation surgery is done to increase the size and projection of the female breasts. The procedure always involves the use and insertion of breast implants, which are devices (prosthesis) of either saline or silicone gel. The
3. Breast Implant Removal Surgery (Explant Surgery)
As the name implies, breast implant removal surgery is done by patients who want to remove their breast implants for whatever reason. Some patients opt to have them removed and replaced, while others are done with them for good and take them out forever.
4. Breast Lift (Mastopexy)
Breast lift surgery doesn’t add much volume to the breasts, but it does lift them into a more youthful position that some women (and men) tend to feel is more attractive. Excess skin is removed from the “breast envelope” in order to raise their placement on the chest. After a breast lift, the breasts won’t sag or droop as much as they once died.
5. Breast Reduction Surgery
If your breasts are too large for your frame, or too heavy for your upper body to easily and comfortably support, a breast reduction surgery can help you with that. For patients who need it, breast lift surgery can be truly life-changing.
6. Breast Reduction in Men; Gynecomastia Surgery
Gynecomastia affects a large percentage of men, from adolescents to adults. The condition—an excess of glandular tissue in the male breasts—can be caused by a variety of factors, from hormonal changes to the taking of certain medications. In most cases, gynecomastia will go away on its own in at least the younger patient population. But for those who have little to no success in getting rid of it on their own, male breast reduction surgery is the usual solution.
7. Buccal Fat Pad Removal or Reduction
Buccal fat pad removal or reduction has recently risen in popularity. Patients who feel they have a baby face, or a face that appears to round for their liking, can undergo buccal fat pad removal or reduction. This is a simple surgery that can be done in an office-based setting, but for many patient’s it’s more costly than it is effective.
8. Buttock Augmentation With Fat Grafting
The buttocks can be augmented and enhanced using one’s one naturally healthy fat. The fat it taken from other areas of the body, processed and sterilized, and then re-injected into the buttocks. This is a dangerous procedure when done wrong. Done well by a qualified surgeon, the procedure is also an extremely popular one and it, too, can be life changing. The danger of this procedure stems from two facts: One, that while removing fat from various parts of the body, vital organs can be punctured leading to death, and two, that while injecting the fat into the buttocks, fat can be caused to enter the rather large blood vessels in the buttocks, where it rapidly makes its way to the heart or lungs, causing near-immediate death.
9. Buttock Implants
An alternative to the Brazilian butt lift procedure, butt implants are made of solid silicone. They’re inserted into the buttocks well below the surface of the skin. Unfortunately, this procedure has more long-term complications than other butt-enhancement surgeries (such as the BBL), and is becoming less and less popular over time for exactly that reason. Butt implants can become infected, and can move and shift around obviously.
10. Buttock Lift
This procedure isn’t done to add volume to the buttocks, but to lift the buttocks higher. For instance, women who are experiencing sagging of their buttocks due to age-related and other changes can opt for a butt lift to improve the appearance of their buttocks.
11. Calf Augmentation
Calf augmentation is done mostly by men, and involves the placement of a special silicone implant into the calves. The
12. Cheek Implant (Malar augmentation)
Cheek implants are likewise made of solid silicone. They can be added to the cheeks in order to increase their size, and improve the shape and contours of the face.
13. Chin Augmentation (Mentoplasty, Genioplasty)
Chin augmentation goes by the technical name of mentoplasty or genioplasty. It can involve reducing the size and width of the chin by reducing the width of the bone structure, or it can involve reshaping the chin with an implant. Chin augmentation may be done by both men and women, and is typically done in accordance with a patient’s desired facial features. A weak or receding chin can be augmented to appear more masculine, and an overbearing or chiseled chin and jawline can be toned down to appear more feminine. In either case, the procedure required is chin augmentation.
14. Dermabrasion
Dermabrasion is a procedure that treats the surface of the skin. It’s considered a plastic or cosmetic surgery procedure since it involves actual surgery, and more specifically, is surgical skin planing. Dermabrasion can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It’s much less invasive than a full facelift, but more invasive and intense than some of the lighter procedures available, such as microdermabrasion and lighter chemical peels.
15. Ear Surgery (Otoplasty)
Ear surgery is one of the most common plastic surgery procedures done by underage men and women. In such a case, the procedure is normally done because the ears are too large in relation to the face and the remainder of the head, which, unfortunately, leads to bullying in school, or the patient feeling less self confident. During otoplasty, or ear surgery, the size of the ears is usually reduced and their shape, position and proportions are altered so they better integrate with the remainder of one’s facial features.
16. Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)
Eyelid surgery is technically known as blepharoplasty. Blepharoplasty may be done on only the lower eyelids, only the upper eyelids, or both the upper and lower eyelids at the same time. The procedure involves removing a sliver of skin from the upper and/or lower eyelids in order to allow them to wrinkle less and appear more youthful. For patients with so much excess and drooping eyelid skin that it causes them interruptions in their vision, blepharoplasty may be covered by medical insurance.
17. Facelift (Rhytidectomy)
The facelift is one of the most popular and well-known plastic surgery procedures. A number of unique techniques have been developed for the facelift and the procedure may be done as a “mini facelift” or full facelift. Various layers of the face can also be targeted, depending upon the desired outcome. In all cases, incisions are placed at the upper sides of the face (near the temple and around the ear), in order to lift and redrape the facial skin to a more youthful and less wrinkled appearance. The facelift procedure physically removes excess skin, thus allowing for results that are much more pronounced than are possible with any and all nonsurgical alternatives. A facelift can be combined with noninvasive dermal fillers, fat transfer, Botox, and laser skin resurfacing, in order to provide the polishing touches to the final appearance of the face. The results of a well-done facelift can last anywhere from 10-15 years, and they can be improved and prolonged through a good skincare routine, avoidance of the sun, a healthy diet, and a moderately active lifestyle.
18. Brow Lift, or Forehead Lift
A brow lift or heahead lift reduces wrinkles in the upper face, improves frown lines, and places the eyebrows in a more youthful position. The procedure specifically targets sagging of the forehead skin. Because the incisions of a facelift are placed right below the forehead, a facelift does not treat or target the forehead specifically, so a brow lift may be necessary along with a facelift. So, too, may a neck lift be required to reduce the aged appearance of the neck.
19. Forehead Reduction Surgery (Hairline Lowering)
If your forehead is too large for your liking, forehead reduction surgery can help you correct that. Rather than pulling the facial skin upward (as in a facelift), the hairline is pulled downward in order to reduce the vertical height of the forehead. Patients who find that they hairline starts too far back, or that their forehead has a curved position at the top of it (running into the hairline and head), will likely benefit from this procedure. The hairline can be moved downward by 2.5 centimeters or more, which typically corrects the problem of an overly large appearing forehead.
20. Hair Transplantation
Hair Transplantation Surgery is considered a plastic or cosmetic surgery procedure, though it varies greatly from many of the other procedures on this list. A number of forms can be used to accomplish hair transplantation, but they all involve the removal of healthy hair from areas of the head where it’s rather abundant, and transplanting those healthy follicles into the areas of the head where more grafts are needed.
21. Labiaplasty
Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure done in order to reduce the size of the labia minora, which are the flaps of skin on either side of the vaginal opening. With age, these flaps are naturally affected cosmetically and some women wish to address that with a surgical procedure.
22. Lip Augmentation
Lip augmentation is most commonly done using injectable dermal fillers, which are long-lasting but impermanent. Permanent lip augmentation can be accomplished with collagen-based fillers, with fat transfers to the lips, or, most uncommonly, with silicone lip implants. (Liquid silicone should never be directly placed in the lips or any other part of the body.)
23. Lip Reduction
Lip reduction surgery is done to reduce the size of the lips if they appear larger than a patient desires them to be. Skin is excised (surgically removed) from the upper lips, lower lips, or both.
24. Liposuction
Liposuction is one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures because stubborn fat is a problem for many people, and because the single surgical procedure can be done on a large number of different areas of the body. While any one patient is likely to get “just one facelift,” or a single breast augmentation surgery, they’re equally likely to get several liposuction surgeries, in the event that they need or want to target a number of areas of their body. The procedure is versatile and well-suited to reducing stubborn fat, as well as to improving the chiseled definition of the abdomen and other areas of the body. Liposuction is officially not a weight loss procedure, but since a number of pounds are able to be removed during the procedure, it does help patients appear as though they’ve lost considerable weight.
25. Lower Body Lift
A lower body lift, of belt lipectomy, combines a tummy tuck with a thigh lift. Patients who’ve undergone a great amount of weight loss over time will likely benefit from the skin removal that this procedure provides. Since the skin stretches greatly to accommodate increased body weight but won’t return to its previous size or state after weight loss, surgical removal of excess skin is usually always necessary.
26. Monsplasty
The monsplasty is a surgical procedure done to reduce the bulge of excess skin and fat that often accumulates in the mons. The procedure can be done under local anesthesia and typically involves localized liposuction of the mons.
27. Neck Lift
Neck lift surgery removes the excess skin and fat from around the jawline to produce a more youthful and taught neck.
28. Nose Reshaping (Rhinoplasty)
Rhinoplasty is one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures. Men and women of all ages undergo the surgery in order to alter, revise, or improve the appearance of their nose. The nose can be reshape, made larger or smaller, wider or skinnier.
29. Pectoral Implants
Pectoral implants can be placed in the male chest during pectoral implant surgery. These implants, made of silicone, can help to sculpt and contour a man’s chest in order to make it appear more fully developed, masucline, or mature.
30. Penis Enlargement, Penile Implants
Penile enlargement can be done through a variety of methods: Dermal fillers or fat transfer can be done to increase the girth or width of the penis, and another procedure can be done to enhance its length surgically, called ligament transection. Penile implant surgery isn’t incredibly common, but it is a procedure available from some plastic surgeons.
31. Thigh Lift (Thighplasty)
Thigh lift surgery reshapes the things be surgical removing the excess skin and fat that accumulates here. Both men and women can benefit from the procedure, while is considered a major surgery best suited for patients that don’t smoke and who are at or near their ideal goal weight.

34. Vaginal Rejuvenation Surgery
Vaginal rejuvenation can refer to labiaplasty surgery, or to non-surgical techniques that improve vaginal tightness, help correct urinary incontinence, and address the overall appearance of the labia minora and labia majora.
