If you could undergo some type of procedure to enhance your ability to have an orgasm, or to improve the quality of your orgasms, would you? For many women experiencing sexual dysfunction, and some without, the answer is often most definitely yes. A relatively new and non-invasive procedure called the “o-shot” promises to deliver positive results for such women.

What is the O-Shot?
Marketed as the o-shot, and often colloquially known as an orgasm shot, the procedure involves the injection of platelets into the labia, clitoris and “g-spot.” The injected platelets are medically known as PRP, or Platelet-Rich Plasma. Though relatively little research has been conducted on the o-shot, some medical providers and patients feel that it improves the sex life of the recipient.
What is PRP?
PRP is a medical product created from the blood of the patient. Your practitioner will draw a small amount of blood from you, typically from the arm, and spin it in a centrifuge. This processing separates out the blood platelets from the other blood cells. The resulting PRP serum contains a large amount of growth factors and other substances that promote healing within soft tissues. PRP is an aspect of the treatment that has extensive research behind it. It is commonly used to treat sports injuries, for example. And PRP has even been used successfully for the treatment of such conditions as hair loss.
O-Shot Benefits:
Some of the benefits of the o-shot include:
- Increased arousal
- Enhanced lubrication
- Increased sexual desire
- Heightened orgasm during masturbation or intercourse
How It Works
It is believed that the o-shot improves sexual enjoyment through the stimulation of stem cells and the production of new collagen and blood vessels. Before undergoing o-shot treatment, you’ll need to meet with your provider to determine if you would make a suitable candidate for the procedure. They will take in your medical history, ask you about your treatment goals, and inquire about any medications that you are currently taking.
O-Shot Cost
The cost of the o-shot typically ranges anywhere from $1,500 to $3,000. Since it is not considered to be medically necessary, it is not covered by insurance. The exact cost of your individual procedure can be determined during your initial consultation with your provider.
What to Expect
You will be asked to remove your pants and underwear. Numbing cream will be applied to the area of treatment. Some of your blood will be drawn and spun in a centrifuge to separate out blood platelets from the rest of the blood. Finally, your practitioner will inject the PRP blood product into the area of treatment to improve sexual function. You can then get dressed and return home. The procedure should take about 30 minutes to complete.
Recovery & Results
Recovery from an o-shot procedure couldn’t be any simpler. You may notice a minor amount of local sensitivity for a couple of days. That’s it. You can even resume intercourse on the same day as your treatment. Within the first week of your o-shot, you may experience heightened sensation in the treatment area. In about three weeks, new tissue should have developed, continuing to form for the next nine weeks, reaching peak development after three months. Results can be expected to last at least one year.
Development of the O-Shot
Dr. Charles Runnels is credited with creating the o-shot. His studies found a significant improvement in female sexual function after undergoing the procedure. According to Dr. Runnels, anecdotal reports also indicated that the procedure was effective.
